Alta X Gen2

Freefly Alta X Gen2 is a professional heavy-lift drone platform engineered for demanding industrial, inspection, mapping, LiDAR, cinema and custom payload applications. Building on the proven Alta X airframe, Gen2 introduces Freefly's latest flight control technology, smarter payload integration and expanded connectivity while retaining the rugged construction, folding design and exceptional lifting capability that made the original Alta X a leading heavy-lift platform.

At the heart of Alta X Gen2 is the custom Freefly Skynode flight controller, based on the same technology used in Astro Max. The system provides enhanced GPS resilience, precise navigation, intelligent failsafes, integrated telemetry, mission planning and extensive flight data logging. This makes Alta X Gen2 suitable not only for manually operated heavy-lift missions but also for advanced autonomous and repeatable enterprise workflows.

With a maximum payload capacity of approximately 15 kg / 35 lb, Alta X Gen2 can carry significantly larger sensors and equipment than conventional enterprise drones. The platform is suitable for professional LiDAR systems, high-resolution RGB cameras, thermal and multispectral sensors, cinema camera systems and custom industrial payloads. Its maximum gross take-off weight reaches approximately 34.9 kg.

A major improvement is the Smart Dovetail payload interface. Compatible payloads can be installed quickly while gaining access to communication and power connections through the aircraft. The removable chassis panels also provide access to an internal payload bay with onboard Ethernet, regulated power and LTE connectivity, making Alta X Gen2 particularly attractive for companies developing specialized sensors or custom airborne systems.

Alta X Gen2 includes 12 mm payload rails for equipment weighing up to 35 lb as well as an isolated Smart Dovetail mount for lighter compatible payloads. Integrated 12V and 24V regulated accessory power further simplifies professional payload integration.

The aircraft retains Freefly's ActiveBlade technology, designed to significantly reduce vibration and provide stable flight characteristics for sensitive imaging and measurement equipment. The large folding propellers provide excellent efficiency while the folding airframe allows the aircraft to be rapidly prepared for transport or field deployment.

Alta X Gen2 is designed for professional operation in challenging environments. The proven carbon-fiber airframe combines high structural strength with a practical field-deployable design, while the system has been tested to an IP43-equivalent level of environmental protection and can operate across a wide temperature range.

The included Freefly Pilot Pro controller provides a dedicated professional control interface, while the integrated FPV camera gives the pilot a direct aircraft view during operation. Standard Remote ID is preinstalled and configured on the aircraft.

Alta X Gen2 is an ideal platform for LiDAR surveying, photogrammetry, mapping, infrastructure inspection, industrial sensing, cinematography, research, public safety, custom payload development and other applications where payload capacity, flexibility and professional-grade flight performance are essential.

Please note that flight batteries and chargers are not included with the standard Alta X Gen2 package. Alta X Gen2 uses two AS150U batteries per flight.

For maximum versatility for a variety of operators, Alta X Gen2 does not include batteries/chargers. We recommend:

• At least one dual channel charger plus six Alta X Gen2 batteries, per aircraft. If you cannot charge in the field and need to operate more than three flights, add one pair of batteries per additional flight planned. Each charger can charge two batteries at a time, and adding additional chargers will speed up your overall charting throughput.

For applications other than flying industrial payloads, you will need additional mounting hardware / landing gear:
