DJI Matrice 5T Is Here: 59 Minutes, Native 1K Thermal and IP55
DJI Matrice 5T brings 59-minute flight time, native 1280 × 1024 thermal imaging, IP55 protection and a new combination of LiDAR, radar and advanced cameras. See what it means for demanding operations.
DJI Matrice 5T has officially arrived. DJI Enterprise's new compact flagship is more than an incremental Matrice 4T update. Longer endurance, native 1280 × 1024 thermal resolution, IP55 protection and the combination of LiDAR and millimetre-wave radar make it a platform for longer, more demanding and more dependable operations.
The most important upgrades at a glance
- up to 59 minutes of flight time and a maximum flight distance of up to 45 km under ideal test conditions,
- native 1280 × 1024 thermal resolution at 30 Hz, with a 2560 × 2048 UHR real-time display mode,
- IP55 protection and an operating range from −20 to 50 °C,
- LiDAR, millimetre-wave radar and omnidirectional vision for more dependable obstacle sensing,
- three 50 MP cameras: wide, medium tele and tele,
- 11× optical and up to 176× hybrid zoom,
- laser rangefinder with a reach of up to 3 km,
- 23 m/s maximum horizontal speed and take-off in approximately 10 seconds.
A major step forward in thermal imaging
Matrice 5T uses an uncooled VOx thermal sensor with native 1280 × 1024 resolution. That matters in search and rescue, hotspot detection, solar inspections, energy infrastructure and industrial maintenance. More detail in the thermal image means faster anomaly detection and less guesswork in the field.
For night work, the system adds a highly sensitive wide camera with a maximum ISO of 1,600,000 and an NIR illuminator effective at up to 100 m. DJI specifies full-colour imaging down to 0.01 lux.
Three visual cameras and a 3 km laser rangefinder
The wide camera combines a 1/0.98-inch sensor with an f/1.8 lens. The 70 mm equivalent medium tele camera supports inspection from a safe distance, while the 252 mm equivalent tele camera offers 11× optical and up to 176× hybrid zoom. The laser rangefinder reaches up to 3 km for fast distance and coordinate measurement.
LiDAR and radar for demanding environments
Matrice 5T combines LiDAR, millimetre-wave radar and omnidirectional vision. LiDAR can detect thin obstacles under suitable conditions, while radar remains useful in fog, rain and dust. The aircraft also supports positioning in weak-GNSS environments and includes ADS-B and Remote ID receivers.
DJI highlights a dedicated power-line inspection mode for energy teams. Public-safety operators also benefit from rapid start-up, quieter propellers and more than 20 onboard target-detection types. FlightHub 2 adds multimodal search and analysis using text or image prompts, together with AI-assisted patrol-route planning.
How does Matrice 5T compare with Matrice 4T?
| Feature | DJI Matrice 5T | DJI Matrice 4T |
|---|---|---|
| Maximum flight time | 59 min | 49 min |
| Thermal resolution | 1280 × 1024 native | 640 × 512 native |
| Protection | IP55 | no standard IP rating |
| Laser rangefinder | up to 3 km | up to 1.8 km |
| Obstacle sensing | LiDAR + mmWave radar + vision | vision and 3D infrared sensing |
| Maximum payload | 400 g | 200 g |
Maximum values were measured under controlled test conditions. Actual performance depends on weather, configuration, payload, regulations and flight profile.
Who is Matrice 5T for?
The new platform is particularly relevant to fire services, police and civil protection, utilities, industrial inspection teams, search and rescue, critical-infrastructure security and advanced thermography. Support for DJI Pilot 2, FlightHub 2, DJI Terra and DTAT 3.0 helps it fit into existing DJI Enterprise workflows.
